Sunday the 9th of March was open competition day at Belston Loch, a good many rainbow trout were landed and it was a close call for the £100 prize for heaviest fish. Both Campbell Cree and Gloud Ritchie came close with rainbows of 3 3/4 lbs but were just tipped at the post by Brad Hannah with a rainbow of 4lbs.

The pictures above are from this week with some cracking brown trout caught. We have been stocking the loch with brown trout of around 1.5lbs every spring for the last few years. The loch boasts so much natural feeding that the fish grow on over the years into these fine specimens.

Today the Black Bull A.C from Glasgow enjoyed a cracking day at the loch even though the weather wasn’t the best. The cabin complete with hot drinks and a log burning stove kept the spirits up and many rainbow trout were caught but the fish of the day was caught on the fly by Charlie Smith pictured above.

Parties of all sizes are always welcome at the loch and if you fancy giving it a bash then please get in touch.

On another note : all places for the trip to Dalmarnock on the mighty River Tay are now taken but we do have another outing to Hoddom on the River Annan  on Saturday 28th June

As we have use of the Coalfield community bus, any member wihing to organise a day out please get in touch with Gordon on 07957942317, it’s not a problem to put something together.
